Third win for Pichon

Mickael Pichon continued his unbroken winning run at the motocross Grand Prix of Europe in Teutschenthal, Germany, taking his factory Suzuki to his third win this season.

The French rider finished with a three second lead but not before and epic battle to keep Irishman Gordon Crockard from taking first place.

Crockard fought his way through the pack before reeling in the first placed rider. Pichon admitted that he had to fight hard to keep Crockard at bay, especially as the track was more suited to the bigger capacity Honda four-stroke than his Suzuki RM 250.

Crockard, who is still recovering from the dislocated shoulder he picked up in the Netherlands, managed to get his front wheel ahead a couple of times but never quite had enough room to overtake. Pichon then dug deep with only a few laps remaining and pulled away.

Third place went to Joel Smets who has now held on to the same position in every round this season. The KTM rider finished the race two seconds down on Crockard.

L&M Yamaha rider Stefan Everts started the race on pole position but a bad start saw him fall way down the field. He fought back to fourth position but the gap to Smets was too big to make up and he finished the race 24 seconds behind Pichon.

Marnicq Bervoets got his first points of the season finishing in fifth place just two second down on team-mate Everts.
