ACU Academy rider selection

1 of 1

The ACU are looking for the next crop of riders to join their academy programme for road racers, and are holding a rider selection day at Rockingham on November 10.

The most promising young riders on the day will then progress to the interview stage of the selection, with the lucky few going on to join the Academy Rider Development Programme for three years of training.

Any young rider between 12 and 17 years of age and holding an ACU Road Race Licence can attend, but there are strict criteria for selection.

The rider must be between 13 and 17 years of age, with at least one years road race experience. They must also have a fully-costed racing plan for 2004 and be able to convince the selection panel they have the drive to succeed.

Academy graduates include 125 GP star Chaz Davies, Kieran Clark, Tom Sykes, Cal Crutchlow and Jon Kirkham.

To attend the free Rockingham day, send the riders name, address, date of birth and ACU Licence Number to Academy Test Day C/O Dave Luscombe, ACU Academy Manager, ACU House, Wood Street, Rugby CV1 2YX. The closing date for applications is Monday, November 3.
