MCN Scottish Show draws the crowds

The MCN Scottish Motorcycle Show proved a hit at the weekend with big name stars, loads of great bike stuff to do, bargains to buy and babes in abundance.

We’ll be adding more pictures, of the babes at the show on Tuesday this week. If you’ve taken pictures yourself, email them to mcn.online@emap.com and we’ll include the best.

Attendances were up more than 10 per cent on Saturday when good weather added to a relaxed vibe. We’re still waiting for final figures on the crowds on Sunday, but it looks like the Bridgestone and Carole Nash-supported event could be heading for a new record.

Among the highlights were the chance to meet the man leading the WSB title challenge, James Toseland, British Superbike champion (and now MotoGP racer) Shakey Byrne. Jeremy McWilliams was fully pumped for his head-to-head with Leon Haslam in a unique racing challenge run at the show. Niall Mackenzie also attended.

Star bikes included a Ducati 999R police bike. Complete with blue flashing light and Grampian Police stickers you’ll be relieved to know you won’t find it on your tail on your favourite twisty. Instead it’s an eye-catching promotional tool for the force’s Bikesafe campaign.

Other oddities at the Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh included BikeRite’s Wheelie machine. Billed as the world’s first it’s a device that allows you to try out your wheelie skills without going anywhere. The rear wheel on the bike doesn’t move. The bike pivots up from the rear when you give it the right handful.

You could test your skills (and your bravery) in a number of other action-packed bike activities by trying out supermoto, going up against your mates in minimoto or hanging on for dear life in a sidecar outfit.

The show also saw the debut of the MCN Babe Squad and gave visitors the opportunity to sign a book of remembrance for Steve Hislop.
