MotoGP record crowds

1 of 1

A record number of fans attended a MotoGP round in 2004, with 1.7 million people watching Rossi, Gibernau, Biaggi and the rest fight it out for the championship.

The total is 10 per cent up on the previous year, with 15 of the 16 rounds showing an increase. The only exception was the new venue of Losail in Qatar. The biggest meetings of the year took place in Spain and German, with over 200,000 people going to Jerez, Valencia and Sachsenring.

And there is an indication British fans are following MotoGP more closely, with the numbers 20 per cent up at the British GP at Donington.
