Kiyo takes race 2

1 of 1

Ryuichi Kiyonari took the win in the second British Superbike race at Silverstone despite Gregorio Lavilla desperately trying to make the double.

Kiyo got an early lead with Lavilla’s team-mate Leon Haslam hot on his tail. But when the race had to be restarted it was Lavilla and Kiyonari that dominated.

Lavilla was constantly over the back of the Japanese rider, setting the second new lap record of the day and finishing the race just two tenths down on the Honda rider.

Haslam could not keep up with the hot pace set by the front two and was quickly dropped. He almost lost out on his second podium of the day to Kiyo’s team-mate Michael Rutter but managed to hold him off.

Rizla Suzuki rider John Reynolds only managed two laps before crashing out of the second race.
