John McGuinness has become the only man to win two races in the 2005 Isle of Man TT taking his second win in Friday’s Senior TT, setting a new lap record in the process.

After taking victory in the Superbike TT on Sunday McGuinness went on to win the Senior race, which is open to any machine from all the other classes, by more than 34 seconds on his Yamaha R1.

McGuinness completed his opening lap in an amazing time of 17:46.7 making a new lap record speed of 127.33mph.

Second place went to Fireblade rider Ian Lougher with the Suzuki GSX-R1000 of Guy Martin taking third.

Richard Britton was in contention for the podium but his chain fell of the sprocket when he was leaving the pits after refuelling. He managed to get it back on but the lost time dropped him down to fifth overall.

Race contenders Bruce Anstey, Adrian Archibald and Ryan Farquhar all retired from the race.
