Rutter on Croft pole

Michael Rutter has taken his HM Plant Honda to its third pole of the season at the Croft round of the World Superbike championship.

Rutter just managed to hold off Kawasaki rider Dean Thomas by 0.004 seconds, finishing with a record setting lap of 1:20.624.

Young Red Bull Honda rider Johnathan Rea took a surprise third place with Rutter’s team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari finishing the front row of the grid.

Honda UK rider Karl Harris took fifth followed by Glen Richards Leon Haslam and Michael Laverty.

Haslam’s team-mate Gregorio Lavilla struggled with the circuit qualifying in 13th place while John Reynolds sits in 16th in his return from injury, one place behind his team-mate Scott Smart.
