Lavilla does the double

Gregorio Lavilla has stormed in to the lead in the British Superbike championship by taking a double win at the Donington Park round of the British Superbike championship.

Lavilla dominated both races taking his lead in the championship to nine points over Honda rider Ryuichi Kiyonari who finished second in the first race and third in the second.

Lavilla’s team-mate Leon Haslam took the other two podium positions, alternating second and third with Kiyonari.

Kiyonari’s team-mate Michael Rutter is now well out of the title race taking a fourth and a sixth.

Current champion John Reynolds managed a fifth place in the first race but as one of the many riders to throw their bikes away in the second race as the mixed wet and dry track conditions caught a large number out.
