Is Everts unbeatable?

1 of 1

Stefan Everts took his sixth consecutive MX GP win, and his 93 career victory at the Bulgarian Grand Prix on Sunday, June 4.

With heavy rain between the first and second motos, 33-year-old Everts managed to dominate in both races, taking the lead within the first two laps on both occasions. The Belgian rider was able to build a comfortable lead over Suzuki rider Kevin Strijbos in each race, with Steve Ramon taking third, making it an all Belgian podium.

Britain’s Julien Bill took eighth in the first race with Gordon Corckard 11th. The second race saw Crockard take 17th with James Noble in 19th. Everts now leads the championship by 81 points from Kawasakis Tanel Leok, allowing him to fail to finish three races and still keep the championship lead.

In the MX2 championship Antonio Cairoli took the first moto win from series leader Christophe Pourcel and Davide Philippaerts. But a crash at the start of the second race dropped him outside the top ten before a second fall saw him retire. Marc De Ruever took the second race and overall victory from fellow KTM riders Tyla Rattray and David Phillipaerts. Britian’s Carl Nunn took tenth in the first race, with Tommy Searle 18th. The second race saw Nunn improve to seventh, with Billy Mackenzie 11th, Tom Church 15th and Tommy Searle 20th.
