Lavilla on Mallory pole

Gregorio Lavilla has qualified on pole for the British Superbike round at Mallory Park, with Airwaves Ducati team-mate Leon Haslam taking second spot on the grid.

Lavilla secured the first spot with a lap of 55.375, with Haslam putting in a 55.440 for second. Jonathan Rea heads five Hondas in third with 55.491, followed by Ryuichi Kiyonari, Michael Rutter, Karl Harris and Michael Laverty.

Shane Byrne has qualified in eighth, but team-mate James Haydon has pulled out of the meeting due to injuries from a crash on Friday. Dean Thomas and Glen Richards round out the top ten. To see the full time sheet, click here.

Eugene Laverty will start the British Supersport race from pole position thanks to a first session time of 56.748 which remained unbeaten. Tom Sykes will start from second on the TAS Suzuki (56.817), followed by Northpoint Ekerold team-mates Cal Curtchlow and Leon Camier. Pere Riba starts from fifth. Saturday morning:

Jonathan Rea has gone fastest in the third practice session for the Mallory Park round of British Superbikes on Sunday, June 4, 2006.

Rea posted a fastest lap of 55.832 on the Red Bull Honda, with Leon Haslam close behind on the Airwaves Ducati with 55.857. Third quickest was the HM Plant Honda of Ryuichi Kiyonari, with Gregorio Lavilla and Shane Byrne close behind. James Haydon was 24th in the session, riding despite a high speed crash on Friday afternoon. He has soft tissue damage to his left shoulder, forearm and fingers, but has been pronounced fit to ride.

In British Supersport first qualifying, Eugene Laverty put himself on provisional pole with 56.748 making it BSB and BSS for the Red Bull Honda team. Tom Sykes was second fastest on the TAS Suzuki, with Carl Cruthclow and team-mate Leon Camier taking the next two places. Pere Riba was fifth fastest, fresh from a good wildcard round in the World Supersport race at Silverstone on the Bank Holiday weekend.

James Westmoreland is fastest in 125cc qualifying from Alex Lowes and Joel Noon. Virgin Mobile Cup free practice saw Tom Grant quickest from James Webb and BJ Toal.
