Carmichael in title hunt

1 of 1

Ricky Carmichael is back in contention for the AMA Supercross championship following victory in Indianapolis and the return of 25 points previously docked for fuel irregularities.

Carmichael was ruled to have used illegal fuel at the San Diego round of the championship. However, as the round is part of both the World and AMA championships, there are fuel-testing differences between the FIM and the AMA. As a result the points are reinstated, and the team has paid a $20,000 fine which was donated to the Asterisk Mobile Medical Centre and Riders for Health.
