Plater lands ZX-10R ride

The Dienza Performance British Superbike Team has signed Steve Plater to race in the 2006 Bennetts British Superbike Championship, which starts in less than three weeks..

Team owner Enzo Di Clemente, said: “It’s great to have Steve working with the team again. It was hard after what happened with Sendo last year but luckily people have stood by us to enable us to run Steve and Dienza Performance in 2006.”

The Lincolnshire-based rider, 33, rode for the Sendo Superbike Team at the start of 2005 season until title sponsor Sendo went into liquidation.

Signal Plus moved in to enable Dienza Performance to compete in the final two rounds at Donington and Brands Hatch. Plater finished the second half of the season with Hydrex Honda scoring a best finish of third at the last race of the season.

Plater said: “Enzo has saved my season. It’s good to be working again. Enzo and myself have worked really hard to get the funding to run Dienza Performance for this season, but we’ve come good. We couldn’t have done it without my personal sponsors; Optoma Broker Solutions and KDP Plant, and the continued support of Dunlop, CSI and Putoline Oils who have all stood by us.”

He hopes to test at Knockhill before the official test at Snetterton on March 18-19 2006.
