RC takes AMA MX lead

Ricky Carmichael has taken the championship lead in his final season of AMA Motocross.

Carmichael took two wins at the second round of the series at Mt Morris. The first race saw him lead for the opening laps, before James Stewart took over. But Carmichael continued to battle and with just four laps left Stewart made a mistake and fell from his Kawasaki.

The second race at the High point track was easier for Carmichael as he led from the start to finished with a 30 second gap to second place. Chad Reed finished the meeting second overall and the Yamaha rider moves to second in the championship, nine points behind Carmichael. James Stewart finished the meeting outside the top ten, and drops to seventh in the title race.
