MX2 World Champion Christophe Pourcel continued his top form with a double victory at the final Japanese Championship meeting last Sunday.

Pourcel, who will become a full factory-supported rider for the 2007 season was invited to Japan to test the bike he will try to defend his MX2 title on next year.

The Kawasaki KX250F-SR rider was joined on the podium by factory competitor Yu Hirata, which also saw him finish second in the final Japanese Championship standings.

Pourcel, who was supported by 20 factory technicians during the build up to the weekend in Sugo, said: “Since six years old I have always ridden Kawasaki. My dream was to one day become World Champion and this year I realised my dream with Kawasaki.

“Next season I will defend my MX2 World title again in the GPKR team to whom I owe so much to. I am very happy that Kawasaki could continue to help me achieve my dreams in the future and I hope that I can bring them more and more success over the next three years.”

Kawasaki treated French rider to a celebratory banquet on his return to Japan.

The 18-year-old has now flown to California to begin his winter training for Supercross.
