Plater aims for TT

Steve Plater will race an AIM Yamaha R1 in BSB and the major international road races this year.

Plater rode the team’s R6 in several British Supersport races last year, deputising for injured Chris Burns and then took their R1 to victory in the Macau Grand Prix, his first time on a superbike in the race on the tricky road course.

“I’ve been in talks with several teams but my priority was to be on the same bike for BSB and the roads

Plater scored an incredible double in the North West 200 superbike races last year and is hoping to repeat the feat on the AIM Yamaha this year. But the biggest news is that he is to make his TT debut with the team.

“I’ve wanted to do the TT for ages. I was lined up once before but got injured. I’m looking forward to it especially as this year’s races will be something extra special with all the Centenary celebrations.”

Plater had already secured a deal to race a factory Kawasaki in World Endurance.
