Graeme Gowland clinched the Spanish Supersport 600 title at Jerez with a second place ride on the Joe Darcy Honda he’s campaigned in the series all year.

Gowland, 20 years old from Allendale near Newcastle, showed remarkable consistency, finishing every round of the seven race series, and was on the podium five times.

Graeme Gowland went to Spain this year with a solitary season of road racing under his belt. After winning the British Under21 motorcross title in 2004, he tried his hand a club racing at the back end of 2005 and entered the Yamaha R6 Cup the following season.

Gowland finished fourth at Brands Hatch in his series debut and went on to finish fourth in series, winning races at Croft, Cadwell Park and Brands Hatch and, on the back of success in the Spanish series, looks set for a World Supersport ride in 2008.
