Isle of Man TT: Ian Lougher to switch to Yamaha for 2008

It’s all change this year for Isle of Man TT veteran Ian Lougher.

The Welshman who made his debut on the Mountain course in 1984 and has won seven Isle of Man TTs, has switched his Black Horse Finance team to Yamaha after five years with Honda.

And while he is continuing to challenge for race wins on the roads, he’s taking on more of a team management role at short circuits meetings.

“It’s going to be a weird year for me,” Lougher admitted.

“I’ve signed Ollie Linsdell who is just 21 and we’re going to run him at BSB rounds in the Junior Superstock championship.

“But while it’s a lot of work running my own team, I wouldn’t be going racing myself if I didn’t think I was still capable of winning races.

“I’m looking forward to this year and hope to get another TT win under my belt. It’s great to get the two-strokes back on the TT programme, albeit on the Billown circuit but who knows?

“If it attracts a big enough field then and some good racing then we’ll see where it goes.”
