Guy Martin overtook David Jeffries’ and Geoff Duke’s record of five International Gold Cup wins to take his sixth victory at the Oliver’s Mount circuit in Scarborough.

Martin won both legs of the National Superbike race on his Hydrex Bike Animal Honda Fireblade before taking victory in the feature race.

Martin stole the show ahead of Ryan Farquhar, Michael Dunlop and Ian Lougher.

Martin also finished third in the opening David Jeffries 600 Cup race and on Sunday was penalised for a jump start and was demoted back to fourth.

Martin said: “It’s been a bit of a lean year on the roads but to win the Gold Cup again and beat Geoff Duke and DJ’s record is the icing on the cake.

“We had no major problems all weekend and it was just a case of setting a comfortable pace and not pushing too hard, and it all came together.

“I had some magnificent support all weekend so thanks to the fans and the team has done a great job for me also.

“It was a case this weekend of the sun shining on the righteous and I’m over the moon.”
