ANDREAS RACING ASSOCIATION, JURBY SOUTH, ISLE OF MAN, SATURDAY

SEAN Murphy chalked up an impressive double in his first closed roads event for four years at Jurby South in the Isle of Man on Saturday.

Riding a 750 Suzuki for his original sponsor Martin Bullock, he won the opening Centre championship event by 1.245 seconds, later adding victory in the 600 race on his own CBRR Honda by a more comfortable margin after Kneen high-sided exiting Ballavarran corner.

Stephen Oates, who tipped off his GSXR Suzuki at the first corner of the opening 1300 race, made no such errors in the concluding solo race, winning by almost 25 seconds from Paul Smyth.

Dave Molyneux and Dan Sayle took first blood in what promises to be an enthralling three-wheel contest on Manx roads over the coming weeks. The Suzuki pair won by the best part of a minute from former World Superside Champions Tim Reeves and Patrick Farrance after TT lap record holder Nick Crowe and passenger Mark Cox stopped with a fouled up spark plug in the Honda after two circuits.

ANGLESEY, WALES, MONDAY

Riding his new 675 Triumph Kiaran Hankin broke the 600 Wirral 100 lap record on the coastal circuit at Anglesey on Bank Holiday Monday. The 600 championship race became a three-man race between Mark Cronshaw, Craig Beggs and Hankin and only one second divided the three riders as they crossed the finish line.

Angelo Derosa overtook Hankin on the long back straight in the Powerbike final and Scott Wilson briefly moved up one place when Hankin went straight on at Rocket One but Hankin reclaimed second spot coming down the corkscrew and now moves into the lead in the championship.

With the absence of soon to-be expectant father John Robb his father Nicol took over his son’s ride and not having ridden for four years finished ninth.
