World Endurance bikes will be heavier and quieter in 2010 thanks to rule changes imposed by the FIM this winter.
The other big change to the regulations is that the Superpole session will run to the same format as that employed in the Superbike World Championship in order to ‘enhance spectator value’.
Three- and four-cylinder bikes up to 1,000cc:
- 170kg for races which do not include night-time racing,
- 175kg for races which include night-time racing.
Two-cylinder bikes up to 1,200cc:
- 175kg for races which do not include night-time racing,
- 180kg for races which include night-time racing.
Superpole: the format will be the same as that employed in the Superbike World Championship. Teams will nominate a single rider who will be authorised to run a single set of tyres.
The 20 best-placed runners after qualifying practice will be eligible to contest the first 14-minute session (Superpole 1). After this session, the 16 best-placed riders will go on to take part in the second 12-minute session (Superpole 2).
The eight fastest riders after the second session will contest the final 10-minute shootout.
Noise: the maximum noise permissible for Formula EWC bikes will be reduced to 105dB/A (with a tolerance of +4dB/A after the race).
