Dungey takes first win of the Supercross season with Anaheim domination

Ryan Dungey has taken his first win of the 2015 FIM Supercross championship in dominant form, taking the lead at Anaheim’s Angels Stadium on lap two and never looking back. The former champion’s win is also his first on the new KTM 450.

Speaking after what he made look like an easy win, the 24 year old said: “The whole day was great. We went out there and got a good start, got into the lead and led all of the laps. That is all we can do. We’ve finished fourth, third, second, second and now first [this season], and that is a step forward. We will continue to take it race by race and give it everything we have.”

Championship rookie Cole Seely was second, following behind Dungey to have a clean race of his own. However, he only just missed out getting tangled in the battle for the final podium spot, as fellow rookie Eli Tomac went down to the wire with early points leader Ken Roczen, only just holding off the German for the final spot on the box.

Trey Canard, initially part of the battle for the final podium place with Roczen and Tomac, was a faller at mid distance, leaving him out of contention to finish fifth, ahead of Holeshot winner Blake Baggett and championship veteran Chad Reed.
