Off-Road: Sam Sunderland wins Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge

Britain’s Sam Sunderland has won the opening round of the 2017 FIM Cross Country Rally championship in Dhabi. 

The 27 year old who became the first ever Brit to win the Dakar in January wrapped up his second victory of the year in Dhabi with an accomplished performance throughout the five day race.

The RedBull KTM factory rider won by 6m 13.7s after 18h 14m 3.5s of riding from reigning FIM Cross Country World Champion Pablo Quintanilla onboard his factory Husqvarna. Sunderland’s KTM team-mate and Dakar runner-up Matthias Walkner secured third.

The second round of the FIM Cross Country Rally Championship takes place in Qatar on 17th to 22nd April.
