Martin for BSB

Roads hero Guy Martin could be racing a Hydrex Honda in BSB this year.

The Ulster GP winner and outright lap record holder was down to race in British Supersport this year but Hydrex team boss Shaun Muir is contemplating switching him to BSB alongside their other rider Karl Harris.

Muir said: “The biggest worry is whether our CBR600s are ready for the start of the season. It might make sense to put Guy on the superbike instead.”

“The team have built three new Honda FireBlade superbikes, two for BSB rider Karl Harris and one for Martin, originally for the roads.

“They are also building two CBR600RRs for Martin, one for BSS and one ‘less highly strung’ version for the roads.

Martin has already had a private test at Cadwell Park on the Blade and also rode it during the TT press launch recently when the Mountain section of the course from Ramsey to the Creg was closed for filming the TT riders.

Hydrex Honda will test at Cadwell next week and then travel to Spain for the Dunlop tyres tests at Albacete on March 16-18 and at Valencia on March 20 / 21, 2007.
