British Supersport: Alan O'Connor still in hospital after Oulton Park crash

1 of 1

British Supersport rider Alan O’Connor is still receiving treatment in hospital following a horrific crash in last Monday’s race at Oulton Park.

The 28-year-old from Cork is still receiving treatment for possible spinal injuries in the High Dependency Unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital. There were concerns over his condition on Monday, but since coming through the night, he’s continued to make slow but steady progress and is in good spirits.

Although the Team MFC Racing rider, who sustained multiple fractures in the crash, has full feeling medical staff are keeping him immobilised until the full extent of his injuries can be ascertained.

O’Connor’s family and the team have extended their thanks to Toby Branfoot and the rest of the medical team at Oulton Park plus all the staff who are currently caring for him in the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Anyone who wishes to send a card to Alan, should send it to Alan O’Connor, C/O High Dependency Unit, Countess of Chester Hospital, Countess of Chester Health Park, Chester, Cheshire, CH2 1UL.
