Shayne Byrne has taken the win in the opening British Superbike race at Brands Hatch.

Finishing off the meeting that was abandoned after snow five weeks ago Byrne put in a solid performance to work his way past Cal Crutchlow and Tom Sykes to take the win.

  • Monza World Superbikes race two report
  • Crutchlow put in an impressive performance despite suffering from a nasty dislocation on his ankle that has left him with two severed tendons.

Crutchlow lead the majority of the race until he ran wide on lap sixteen letting Byrne and Sykes slip through and leaving him to take third at the flag.

Leon Haslam took fourth place spending most of the race fighting with Leon Camier until the Airwaves Ducati rider almost ran in to the back of Haslam and had to take to the grass on lap 10 leaving Haslam safe in 4th.
