Brands Hatch British Superbikes; Crutchlow wins race two

1 of 1

Cal Crutchlow took a well deserved win in the second British Superbike race at Brands Hatch, despite a badly dislocated ankle.

Crutchlow lead for most of the race and was comfortably in the lead when Malcolm Ashley crashed heavily and brought the safety car out with just three laps to go.

After the track was cleared it looked to be an exciting five lap dash to the finish after an addition three laps were added.

But after just half a lap, third place man, Tom Sykes’ Rizla Suzuki had a catastrophic engine failure, spraying oil over the track and riders and bringing out the red flags to end the race.

Shayne Byrne got a dreadful start but managed to work his way through the field to take second place behind Crutchlow.

Leon Haslam took the hole-shot and led the early part of the race but ran on going on to the back of the circuit and dropped half way down the field.
