Brands Hatch British Superbikes: Injury could rule out Dave Johnson

Team Maxxis’ Dave Johnson faces a tough weekend following a mountain bike incident which left him with a broken bone in his right hand.

It’s an all too familiar situation for the Australian, who came into the last race of the season in 2007 with broken bones and a damaged vertebra.

Speaking of the incident, Johnson had this to say: “Part of my fitness routine is going off-road mountain biking.

“Last week I slipped off and broke a bone in my hand.

“The team did not attend Darley Moor this year (due to other commitments) but it looks like lightening has struck twice.”

Johnson hopes to rectify the injury with some last minute help from the medical centre on hand at Brands Hatch.

“I am off to the medical centre before free-practice (Friday) for an injection, so hopefully, it will be alright and not affect me too much,” added the Aussie.

“Having missed out on the final round last year, I am determined to be at Brands and see the season through.”
