Brands Hatch British Superbikes: John Laverty has his say on Brands Hatch Indy Circuit

1 of 1

Daily Star cup champion John Laverty passed comment on how he’s feeling around the Indy circuit at Brands Hatch.

“I was supposed to be riding one of Michael Rutter’s bikes this weekend, but because of legal reasons, organisers wouldn’t allow it,” said the 2008 Daily Star Cup Champion.

“My cup spec 1098-R is still pretty good around here, but it’s Clearways that’s causing us the most problems.

“It’s because there’s so much power to put down, and you’re on the side of the tyre for such a long time.

“We haven’t got any traction control or electronics either, so it’s more difficult for us, than it is for the BSB boys.”

Despite apparent problems, Laverty was still faster than the factory Suzuki of Atsushi Watanabe as he put his 1098-R in ninth position, just over a second adrift of Karl Harris.

Laverty’s season doesn’t end this weekend though, as he told MCN.

“I’ll get the chance to ride Michael Rutter’s bike at the Sunflower trophy in Ireland next week.

“I’m looking forward to it because Michael’s riding there too, along with some other BSB boys including my brother Michael who’s won races there before”.
