Croft British Supersport: Hudson Kennaugh on top on day one

1 of 1

Raceways Yamaha rider Hudson Kennaugh is desperate to keep his British Supersport title bid alive and started round 10 at Croft as he means to go on by setting the fastest lap.

Kennaugh, who is 37-points adrift of Glen Richards in the 600 series, set a best of 1.22.864 this afternoon.

That’s just two tenths off the lap record set by Billy McConnell here last year, also on a Yamaha.

The South African was over a quarter of a second ahead of Glen Richards on the MAP Embassy Triumph who could, in theory, win the championship this weekend if he walks away 51-points clear of the rest of the field.

HM Plant Honda representative Steve Brogan was a close third and Ian Lowry completed what would be a provisional front row on his Relentless Suzuki.

Sunday’s Supersport race is due to kick off at 14.25.
