BSB Brands Hatch: Saturday morning practice

1 of 1

Normal British Superbike service was resumed at Brands Hatch on Saturday morning when Leon Camier posted the fastest time in the final free practice session. The Airwaves Yamaha dominated proceedings and ended the short 25-minute session over half a second clear of Sheridan Morais whilst he was also the only rider in the 1m26s bracket.

Morais again impressed on the Paul Bird Motorsport Kawasaki and was quicker on this occasion than team-mate Broc Parkes who spent most of the session in the bottom half of the top ten before hauling himself up to fourth in the closing stages. Sandwiched in the middle of the Kawasaki duo was Karl Harris who is showing signs of the form that he had at the beginning of the year.

His Hydrex Honda team-mate Stuart Easton took fifth ahead of Steve Brogan on the leading HM Plant Honda and the Liverpudlian was one of the few riders to lap quicker today than what they did yesterday afternoon, the significantly warmer temperatures probably playing their part.

Tommy Hill, Karl Muggeridge, Michael Rutter and Gary Mason completed the top ten whilst Ian Lowry improved considerably from Friday and slotted in to 12th. However, James Ellison’s troubles continued and he only posted the 20th fastest time although he did manage to complete a full session.

The shorter session was due to the extra race this weekend and qualifying for the three races gets underway at 12.30pm.
