Let it shine says Suzuki’s top technician

Crescent Suzuki’s chief technician Les Pearson has a great theory on the forthcoming BSB season. He reckons the weather runs in three-year cycles, two bad ones and one good. And here’s how he worked it out.

“In 2000 I worked with Chris Walker at Crescent Suzuki and we had fabulous weather all year. In 2001 I went to GPs and, to be honest it wasn’t a great year anyway and I certainly don’t remember good weather. 2002, I looked after the bikes in the one-make Ducati Monster series and the weather wasn’t great.

“In 2003 I returned to Crescent to work with Yukio Kagayama and it was a glorious season, weather-wise but then I joined HM Plant Honda to work with Blade (Michael Rutter) and it was terrible (the weather).

“2006 was beautiful and sunny, and I worked with Shaky (Shane Byrne) on the Rizla Suzuki. But 2007 was probably the worst year for wet meetings that I’ve ever known and 2008 wasn’t any better.

“So I reckon we’re in for a heatwave. And that should suit our new boy (Sylvain Guintoli perfectly, though I hear he’s really good in the wet too!
