Neil Hodgson signs for Motorpoint Yamaha!

Neil Hodgson has signed to ride for Motorpoint Yamaha to race in BSB next year.
The deal was finalised last week and Hodgson jetted in from his home on the Isle of Man to sign the contract at McElnea’s HQ in Scunthorpe last Wednesday. MCN was invited along to the signing.

Hodgson told MCN: “I’ve got a lot of passion in me and I know Rob does too. And I always wanted to come back to race for a team boss who shared that same intense passion as me. Now I’ve got that opportunity.

“My career’s not gone quite to plan over the past couple of years and I know that recently Rob’s career plan as a team manager hasn’t either. The only reason I’m back racing in BSB next year is to win the title. I want to win the title for myself and for Rob’s team. They’ve put a lot of hard work in over the years and deserve some reward for that. I hope we can be successful and all have big smiles on our faces.”

On paper it looks like Hodgson has bitten off a lot – especially when he had virtually every top team boss in the country talking to him about next year, all of them with far better recent track records than McElnea’s.

But Airwaves Yamaha start James Ellison recently tested the Motorpoint bike at Cadwell Park with positive results and Hodgson is confident he and the team can be competitive in next year’s series.
