Brands Hatch BSB: Josh Brookes takes pole

Tyco Suzuki rider Josh Brookes will start the first race of the 2012 BSB championship from pole position after setting a fastest time of 52.877secs, ahead of Samsung Honda rider John Kirkham.

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki ride Shane Byrne will start tomorrow’s race from third on the grid.

Current BSB champion Tommy Hill crashed during the first qualifying session and was unable to fix his bike before the end of the session. Hill will start from 29th on the grid. Michael Laverty also struggled, failing to get out on to track with enough time remaining as the rain began to fall at the end of the first session. Laverty will sart from 21st.

BSB newcomers Freddy Foray and Noriyuki Haga qualified well at the short Indy circuit, setting the fifth and sixth fastest times respectively.
