BSB Brands: Ellison becomes a double BSB winner with race two victory

1 of 1

JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider James Ellison has become a MCE British Superbike double race winner for the first time ever, by taking a commanding second race win at Brands Hatch to back up his earlier win.

Ellison had taken the advantage on the opening lap to lead from his second pole position of the day, but Ryuichi Kiyonari, Shane Byrne and Josh Brookes were in close contention as they bid to halt the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider.

Byrne was soon hassling Kiyonari as the multiple champions battled for second place and on the fifth lap the PBM Kawasaki rider was able to make a move on the inside of Paddock Hill Bend to move ahead of his Buildbase BMW rival.

However, in a repeat of race one, the safety car came out to bring the group back together. As the race resumed Ellison knew his rivals were going to try and attack instantly; the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider fired away at the line to edge a 0.356s lead at the finish as Byrne managed to hold off the hard-charging Brookes as the pair returned to the podium.

Kiyonari was forced to settle for fourth, but moved up into the top six in the standings with his performances.
