Byrne applauds Knockhill track repairs

PBM Kawasaki rider Shane Byrne has applauded the work done by the Knockhill circuit staff to rectify a pothole caused by heavy overnight rain at the Scottish circuit.

Topping the day’s delayed and wet first MCE British Superbike session from Danny Buchan, Byrne said that while the repair work needed some further attention, it was good enough for purposes.

“I’ve asked them to stick the steamroller back onto it later tonight, because it’s still a bit bumpy – you definitely know that you’re going over it. The grip is good for new tar, though, and it’ll be fine for racing.”

Byrne topped the wet session by only 0.023 from the Be Wiser Kawasaki of Buchan, with James Ellison holding off Michael Laverty by only 0.007 for the final spot on the provisional front row.

Qualifying is now scheduled to get underway at 1605, live on British Eurosport.
