Byrne welcoming return to the Ducati family

Four-time MCE British Superbike champion Shane Byrne says he ‘can’t wait’ to return to Ducati for 2016, after his PBM team finally confirmed that they would be making the switch from Kawasaki for next season.

Returning to the manufacturer that he took his first BSB title with in 2003, he says that he can’t wait to get back to the ‘Ducati family.’ And he won’t have long to wait, with a trip to Valencia planned for directly after Brands Hatch to jump onto the Aruba Ducati World Superbike machine.

“I’m really really excited! It should be a great day, and it’ll be a good chance to reignite some old friendships as well and to work with some people I’ve enjoyed working with in the past. It’ll be good to get some data as well, and hopefully drag us back to the front of the championship.

“People have commented this year that I signed really early, and I probably could have held out, but this team and the boss I have made it. When your boss comes to you, asks what you want and you tell them that it’s fresh motivation – and he says ‘ok, I’ll get it sorted!’ – what more could you ask for?”
