BSB: Mossey closes in on top six at Brands

Luke Mossey made his claim on a spot in the top six showdown spots at Brands Hatch this weekend with a strong showing for the Quattro Plant Tec-Care Kawasaki squad.

While Mossey wasn’t able to climb in to a top six spot, he took a chunk out of the gap as he climbed on the rostrum for the third time this season after starting from pole in Sunday’s opening race. The 24-year-old was left disappointed to finish seventh in the second outing after losing grip when the race distance was extended following a safety car.

“It felt a bit of a shock leading the first eight laps of race one,” he said. “I feel I’ve got the pace but when you’re battling with guys like Leon and Shakey with that much experience, it’s always going to be hard. It’s only my second year in this class.

“Last year we won the Riders’ Cup, so if we don’t make the showdown this year both myself and the team will be disappointed. I feel we’ve come on leaps and bounds; we’ve consistently been strong despite a few hiccups and we’ve definitely found something good with the bike so now we just need to make sure we’re racking up the points.”

The strong weekend sees him sit joint sixth in the standings with James Ellison, three points off a place in the top six.
