BSB: Brookes heads to 'favourite' Thruxton

Josh Brookes is hoping he can kick start his 2017 MCE British Superbike title challenge as the series heads to his favourite circuit this weekend.

The Anvil Hire TAG Yamaha rider has been quick in recent rounds, but after two podiums at Snetterton, he was unable to turn his pace into results last time out.

However, as the series now heads to Thruxton, where Brookes holds the lap record from 2015, the Australian is confident of fighting for the win.

The circuit played host to a key round in 2017 as he asserted his title challenge with another double win after his first victories on the all new R1 at Brands.

“I think the reason I’ve gone well at Thruxton in the past is because I like it, or maybe I like it because I go well there?” laughs Brookes. “We took our first win at Brands in 2015, but then went on to Thruxton and cemented our challenge with another double. It was part of the ‘getting the wheels rolling’ period. I’m hoping there can be a similar pattern this year, but we can’t count our chickens before they hatch!”
