BSB: Byrne: 'Today hasn't gone as well as it looks'

Shane Byrne might have topped the times on the opening day of action at Cadwell Park but the Be Wiser Ducati rider was less than happy with how things went on the opening day.

The five-time British Champion shrugged off a small crash in FP1 to lap under the lap record in FP2, but isn’t happy with how his Panigale R is feeling around the technical Lincolnshire track.

“Today hasn’t gone as well as it looks,” Byrne said. “We had a pretty difficult first session and it kind of continued into the second session too. We played about a bit with the balance of the bike and trying to get more of a feel from the front end to balance the front and rear.

“We put a new tyre in this afternoon, but I feel like we are being held back a bit at the moment, so I’m going to sit down with Giovanni and make a plan.

“The Ducati is a great bike but it needs to be in a little window, when it’s in that window it sings but when it’s outside that window it’s a stroppy thing so I’ve got to get her sorted out and put her in her place tomorrow.”
