BSB: Giugliano surprised with close BSB passes

Round one of the MCE British Superbike Championship was an eye opener for new boy Davide Giugliano at Donington Park as he admits being surprised by the intense level of racing throughout the pack.

The Italian finished 13th and 9th in the two races respectively as he quickly came to realise the competitiveness of the BSB field is much higher than that in WSB, with riders determined to get ahead of the man in front from the first corner of the race.

One particular battle in which Davide Giugliano realised just how hard the BSB boys are willing to race was with Bennetts Suzuki’s Taylor Mackenzie, with the young gun barging his way past the Tyco BMW on numerous occasions.

While Giugliano admits he wasn’t expecting this, he says it isn’t a problem and he’s happy to show more of his own aggressive style moving forwards.

“Some of the racing was a bit of a surprise and a few of the guys got very close, but that is okay,” he said. “I’ve learned a lot about the championship today and also the Tyco BMW, so we can go to the next round and show a little bit more of my own style and I will also not be afraid to make some good passes on my Tyco BMW.”
