GP noise limit raised to 125dB

NOISE limits for the new four-stroke GP class have been raised to make the series more appealing to fans.

There had been a concern that under the current limit of 113dB post-race (110dB pre-race), fans flocking back to the tracks to see the new-generation racers like Honda’s V5 RCV, Suzuki’s V4 XRE0, Yamaha’s M1 and Aprilia’s RS3 would be disappointed that the bikes sounded little different to road bikes fitted with race cans.

Now under the new limit (which is the same for pre and post-race readings) the sound of the high-revving four-strokes should become a much bigger part of the trackside experience, much as it is in F1 car racing.
