Rossi reigns (again) in Spain

Valentino Rossi swept to a well-deserved victory in Jerez, Spain, today.

Fighting back after an early clash with Suzuki’s KennyRobererts he closed back up to the front and a dice with his Repsol Honda team-mate Tohru Ukawa. But with a handful of laps remaining the Italian swept by to make it back-to-back Jerez victories for the series leader.

But it wasn’t an RCV one-two. Daijiro Katoh split the two four-strokes on the Fortuna NSR500.

And while Hondas took the first five places home, it was a dreadful day at the office for Marlboro Yamaha. Max Biaggi was black-flagged for jumping the start and Carlos Checa broke down three laps form the end.

Rossi now leads the championship by 29 points over second place Ukawa on 41 points.
