Telefonica rings changes at Suzuki

Telefonica Movistar, the Spanish mobile phone giant, has ended its two-year association with the Suzuki MotoGP squad. This weekend’s Valencia GP will be the last time Suzukis will sport the famous blue and yellow livery in the top class.

Instead Telefonica is switching its allegiance to the Gresini Honda team, following the defection of Spaniard Sete Gibernau from Suzuki to Gresini, where he’ll link up with Daijiro Kato on the RCV.

In the Telefonica colours Suzuki won the 2000 world 500cc crown with Kenny Roberts Jr. Roberts has re-signed with the team on a two-year contract, but there’s no word yet on who he will partner on the GSV-R.

Team boss Garry Taylor said he will announce Suzuki’s new sponsor shortly.
