Pedrosa tops final day

MotoGP rookie Dani Pedrosa set the fastest lap on the final day of testing at Sepang despite awkward weather conditions.

Intermittent rain made it difficult for riders to get out on track as it was too damp for most of the day to use slicks but drying too quickly between showers to get any useful time on Wet tyres.

The afternoon eventually cleared letting Pedrosa knock 0.38 seconds off his time to set the fastest lap of the day and his best of the three days. Valentino Rossi still holds the fastest lap of the test, at 2:02.61, after Wednesday’s perfect conditions.

Nicky Hayden rose back to the top of the table after slowing on day two with Marco Melandri only 0.07 seconds down on the American.

Kawasaki’s Shinya Nakano made a big improvement to jump up to the fourth fastest rider on the final day, improving his previous time by 0.59 seconds.

Yamaha factory riders Rossi and Colin Edwards slowed the pace down a bit on the final day taking the ninth and seventh fastest times respectively.

Brit James Ellison, testing for Yamaha for the first time, finished the test the least improved rider. He could only knock 0.1 seconds off his time from the first day, finishing the session slowest on 2:05.00.
