Davies shows potential

Britain’s Chaz Davies celebrated his 18th birthday with testing at Valencia yesterday, Thursday, February 10, finishing as top privateer and fifth fastest 250cc rider overall.

Aprilia’s Sebastian Porto was fastest 250 rider, improving on his time from the first day with a 1:36.1. But Jorge Lorenzo was just .010 of a second behind and Casey Stoner third quickest.

The Aprilia Germany bike of Davies in fifith went quicker than reigning 125cc world champion Doviziioso, and factory-supported riders Hector Barbera, Alex de Angelis and Simone Corsi, boding well for the season ahead. The British teenager has got a newer chassis for this season, and is finding fast laps easier with the new machine.

In the 125cc class local rider Sergio Gadea set the quickest lap for the Master Aspar Aprilia team with a time of 1:40.060, just pipping Thomas Luthi and Mika Kallio.
