Ito in for Capirossi

Shinichi Ito will race for the Ducati Marlboro team as a replacement for the injured Loris Capirossi.

Capirossi suffered chest injuries from a crash in practice for the previous round in Australia, and has been ruled out of the Turkish GP which begins on Firday october 21, 2005. Ducati test rider Ito is a former 500GP racer, who has continued to ride in the Japanese Superbike series and Suzuki endurance race. He recently claimed the Japanese Superbike title for Honda, in addition to work as a tyre tester for Bridgestone and Ducati.

Ito reached the podium six times in a 500 GP career from 1993-1996, finishing fifth overall in the championship in 1995. He also finished fourth in the first ever MotoGP race at Suzuka in 2002.
