Checa beats GP rivals

Carlos Checa beat off a host of rivals in a star-studded Supermoto race, as he put one over former GP rival Max Biaggi.

The 34-year-old turned out on a Honda CRF450 for the traditional Bologna motorshow supermoto race, in a field that included Biaggi and current GP riders Randy De Puniet, Andrea Dovizioso, Alex de Angelis and Mattia Passini.

Checa, an LCR Honda rider for 2007, won the main feature race ahead of Pasini and Dovizioso.

He said: “Supermoto is great for winter training, for learning better how to control bikes in corners when it’s sliding, but it’s great to win races at it too. I really enjoyed it, and the fans were great.”
