Porto retires from GPs

Argentinean 250cc GP star Sebas Porto has announced his retirement from racing.

Porto made a statement on the eve of the Catalunya GP. The 27-year-old moved to Repsol Honda for the 2006 season but has struggled to find racing form. Team manager Alberto Puig will now look for a replacement rider as Porto decides on his post-retirement plans, looking to stay in the world of motorcycling.

But as Porto leaves, British 250cc rider Dan Linfoot will ride at Catalunya and hopes to take part in all remaining European rounds of the championship are signing with new British team Winona Racing.

The team will also be buoyed by financial support from the ACU and new carbon fibre wheels from Dymag.
