Gibernau out for Valencia

1 of 1

Sete Gibernau has ridden his last race for the Ducati GP team after surgery on his injuries sustained after his crash in Estoril forced him to sit out the last race of the season.

The Spanish rider crashed after colliding with Casey Stoner and damaged his fifth metacarpal in his right hand and aggravated the collarbone he broke earlier in the year.

He has undergone surgery to repair the injuries but will not be fit in time for the Valencia race.

Gibernau was given a brand new treatment which included using stems cells to help re-grow the damaged bone, the first time it has ever been used on a professional sportsman.
