Lorenzo takes 250 title

Jorge Lorenzo has taken the 250cc World Championship with a fourth position in Valencia today.

Roberto Locatelli led the race from the green light until he was caught by Alex De Angelis and Hiroshi Ayoama. With only seven laps to go, Ayoama highsided his 250 KTM while leading leaving the door open for Alex De Angelis to get away at the front aboard his Aprilia while Locatelli attempted to avoid Ayoama’s machine.

The San Marino rider took the victory from Locatelli who salvaged second place, and Lorenzo’s Fortuna Aprilia team mate Hector Barbera rounded off the podium with a solid third.

Runner-up in the title race Andrea Dovizioso couldn’t match the pace of the Aprilia’s and had to settle for a disappointing sixth behind wild card Alex Debon.
